Does using anabolic steroids affect badly on my liver?

Does using anabolic steroids affect badly on my liver?

A question which is  asked by every anabolic steroid user on a regular basis . There is no simple or direct answer to this question since there are various kinds of anabolic steroids that show different levels of effect on liver’s health. Most commonly, liver harm comes from alkylated anabolic steroids whereas non-alkylated steroids do not show a significant effect on liver. To be precise, there has never been any record of a case where liver damage has been reported from the use of non-alkylated steroids. However, medical literature still does not confirm the complete safety of non-alkylated steroids given that there can be alterations depending on individual’s health and physiology.

In case you wonder what non-alkylated steroid hormones are, they are Testosterone esters (Testosterone Enanthate , Testosterone Cypionate , Testosterone Propionate, Sustanon ) Trenbolone (Trenbolone Acetate , Trenbolone Enanthate ), Masteron (Drostanolone Propionate), Nandrolone Decanoate, Boldenone Undecylenate and Primobolan (Methenolone Enanthate ) Periodic Intake of these hormones has not shown significantly detrimental effects on liver. However it is still highly important that your steroid cycles has to be properly maintained in order to ensure health and safety of your liver. For your information, most common alkylated steroids are Oxymetholone , Dianabol also known as Methandienone or Methandrostenolone , Winstrol (Stanozolol) and Oxandronole. Normally, use of these alkylated steroids is limited to six weeks or less since their potential harmful effects are known. Even though it is prescribed for a limited period, most anabolic steroid users tend to use these alkylated steroids not being fully aware of their adverse effects on liver. Such use of these steroids can potentially cause undetectable formations of scar tissues on liver. In the long run, these scar tissues can accumulate and form patches which cannot be healed. The best advice is to use these steroids within the prescribed 6 weeks periods in order to stay healthy and safe while gaining excellent results.

In case your cycle elongates over 6 weeks, your best and wisest option is to substitute your alkylated steroids with Testosterone. You can simply substitute Testosterone for Oxymetholone  or Winstrol for a 1:1 proportion (milligram for milligram). You can substitute Dianabol for a 3:2 proportion, in other words two milligrams of Testosterone for three milligrams of Dianobol. Testosterone is not the only substitute non-alkylated steroid you have. Replace Oxandrololne with Drostenolone at a proportion of 3:2 or Trenbolone at a proportion of 2:3.

Effect of alkylated steroids on liver is correlated with estradiol. Estradiol is naturally available in human liver. It is not toxic as long as it is maintained in the normal range. Increased levels of estradiol can be slightly toxic on human liver. The worst is when alkylated steroids are combined with increased levels of estradiol which create harmful effects on liver.

You can still rely on healthy supplements to keep your liver safe and healthy. Taking 3-7 grams of Lecithin per day with B vitamins can have a positive effect on liver. Milk thistle is another supplement which can potentially block the effect of steroids on liver. Specific ingredients in milk have an ability to effectively mitigate the harmful effects of alkylated steroids. However, this property can only be expected from quality milk thistle products whereas cheap milk thistles available in the market do not provide these substances.
