Methyltestosterone is used to replace testosterone hormone when the male body is not able to naturally produce enough testosterone. Lesser testosterone can result in delayed puberty. In such cases, Methyltestosterone increases the level of testosterone in the blood. It is also useful for weight gain but only in specific conditions. Another usage of this tablet is for the treatment of breast cancer in women.

Consumption
It is an androgen hormone and is available for oral consumption in the form of tablets, capsules and buccal (sublingual) tablets. They can be swallowed simply with water. Also, these tablets are synthesised for sublingual administration, which means they are placed under the tongue to be dissolved and absorbed by the body. They have a pleasant tasting citrus flavour. 
For body-building purpose
Methyltestosterone is not a very advanced compound as far as weight gain is the target. Although it is a very close derivative of testosterone but it does not have that much potential. It basically stimulates aggression in the user. Taking a couple of tablets before visiting gym can easily benefit the user if he is aiming for an intense workout session. Power lifters and body builders put this aggression to good use in their training sessions.
In general, users should not expect to gain a high quality muscle mass from this compound. It cannot be relied upon as a “stand-alone” drug and is generally used in conjunction with other steroids.

Dosage 
Owing to its very short half-life in the body, this drug needs to be consumed several times a day if consistency in blood level is to be achieved. People aiming at actual mass gain need to have a minimum dosage of 40-50 mg a day. But this actually puts a lot of pressure on the liver causing it to process a lot of c-17 alpha alkylated steroid. Therefore, a cycle of 6 to 8 weeks is considered optimum for Methyltestosterone after which a break is recommended.

Side effects 
Methyltestosterone is moderately anabolic as well as androgenic. This beneficial characteristic is somewhat belittled by the fact it is severely estrogenic also. Excess estrogen in the body creates troubles like water retention and gynecomastia, which refers to development of breast tissues in males. Also because of its very short half-life, it must be consumed in greater amounts to obtain good results. All these contradictory processes make Methyltestosterone’s negative effects outweigh the positive ones.  
To minimize the intensity of estrogen produced, other anti-estrogen drugs like Nolvadex ( Tamoxifen Citrate ) should be used to sustain a complete cycle of Methyltestosterone. 
Also, Methyltestosterone converts to DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) in the body which has its own disadvantages. It is responsible for many undesired androgenic symptoms like a few mentioned below:
Hair loss
Enlargement of prostate gland
Oily skin resulting in acne
Signs of severe liver disease are also reported because of excess consumption of Methyltestosterone. Symptoms include nausea, abdominal pain, dark urine etc.

Female Users
Methyltestosterone has very little to offer to female body builders as its virilization effects are far more powerful than any other positive impact. Virilization simply means development of male characteristics in female body like excess body hair or deepening of voice. It can also be held responsible for irregular menstrual periods.
However, it has been proved beneficial for treatment of after-effects of menopause in women and for breast-cancer.
