Drug Introduction:

Possibly the second most popular esterified variant after Testosterone Enanthate, Testosterone Cypionate has a longer half-life and a slow rate of release. Testosterone Cypionate like Testosterone Enanthate is an injectable form of Testosterone. Although very much similar in function, release rate and half-life but Testosterone Cypionate is more preferred than Testosterone Enanthate by American bodybuilders and athletes despite the fact that there is not any marked difference and nothing much to choose between the two. But as Testosterone Cypionate was the US response to  Test. Enanthate the American athletes and bodybuilders used it rather than going with Testosterone Enanthate as a matter of pride more than anything else.   

Testosterone Cypionate first appeared on the market in the middle of 1950’s under the brand name of Depo-Testosterone being manufactured by UpJohn.

There is another interesting fact between the two and that is Testosterone Cypionate tend to function better compared to Testosterone Enanthate at the injection site both in terms of comfort and reaction.

In terms of medical use, Testosterone Cypionate is predominantly used in male for treating androgen deficiency like hypogonadism and andropause. Some other medical uses of Testosterone Cypionate include treatment of individual’s deficiency in bone density and strength, treatment of osteoporosis, individuals trying to recover from periods of extensive muscular atrophy, treatment of feeble elderly patients.

Testosterone is primarily used for the purpose of mass gaining, bulking and gaining strength during periods of training. However, it is very effective for cutting cycles as well where the goal is to lose fat.

Side-Effects:

Testosterone Cypionate has generally a bit more side-effects than that of Testosterone Enanthate although it is very much negligible. This happens mainly because the half-life of Testosterone Cypionate is a bit longer than Testosterone Enanthate. 

There is also another vital aspect to be considered with side-effects and that is it depends a lot on age, sensitivity, genetics, etc. and thereby varies from one individual to another.

The side-effects that may be witnessed with the use of Testosterone Cypionate are water retention and bloating, gynecomastia, an increase in blood pressure level, increased fat gain and fat retention, etc.

There are also androgenic side-effects of Testosterone Propionate and they are increase in oily nature of skin, acne formation, hair growth in body and face and an increased risk of facing male pattern baldness especially if the individual possesses the genetic predisposition for it.

However, similar to Testosterone Enanthate, Testosterone Cypionate too leaves no toxicity in the liver even when administered orally, as have been revealed in various studies.

Much like Testosterone Enanthate the availability and cost of Testosterone Cypionate is not an issue. In fact, it is quite popular in the anabolic steroid world and is widely available making it also one of the cheaper products in the world of steroids. 

It is recommended that women do not take Testosterone Cypionate because it is one with strong androgenic propensities. However, women too can have low testosterone levels and may well benefit from taking this steroid but they need to be mindful of the fact that they take it in a very low dose.
